David Kamel

David Kamel

David was originally an architect in the private sector where he worked on a broad range of small to large scale projects. Coming from a strong background in architecture, he was ready to move onto the next challenge by being involved in the full life cycle of a construction project, an opportunity provided to him by the NSW Public Works Graduate Program.

The supportive team environment and resources of the department have allowed David to develop his skills and broaden his knowledge while working on all stages of a large variety of projects. Opportunities to attend learning and development courses and exposure to the many facets of construction have made NSW Public Works the perfect place for him.

Since joining the Graduate Program David has managed and delivered a variety of projects. He was previously the project manager responsible for concept to completion of the $1.5 million Lander Avenue Criminal Justice project. He is currently working with the senior project manager on the Sydney Harbour Wharf Upgrade Program, a project with a total value of about $400 million.

For David one of the highlights of his experience at NSW Public Works was being part of the team that won the Community Service Development category at the 2010 National Australian Institute of Project Management Achievement Awards. He also applauds the team for ensuring the Government’s State Plan commitments were being met.
