Energy Management
NSW Public Works assists NSW Government agencies to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in government buildings by upgrading lighting systems and providing expert advice on energy and greenhouse gas management.
In 2008/09, it managed the upgrade or replacement of more than 13,000 lights in 16 NSW high schools. As a result, average classroom luminance has increased while the schools’ use of electricity is expected to reduce by approximately 15 per cent. Resultant emission savings is expected to be about 428 tonnes a year.
There is more information about energy savings initiatives on the Government Architect’s Office website.
