Government Architect's Office

The Government Architect’s Office (GAO) is an award winning design office offering a multi-disciplinary range of specialist architectural and engineering services to government clients on a commercial basis.

The GAO is focused on the design quality of the built environment and public domain and has a comprehensive understanding of social, economic, environmental and urban issues. In particular, GAO provides high quality professional advice on issues of sustainability and delivers designs that exemplify environmental sustainability.

On behalf of the NSW government, the GAO takes a leadership role in the built environment through its advocacy and advisory role, its statutory positions on such committees and boards as the Heritage Council and NSW Architects’ Registration Board and representation on design review panels.

The Office has been presented with leading national and international awards from the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, Planning Institute of Australia, the National Trust, World Architecture Awards and UNESCO. By employing recognised industry leaders in varied disciplines GAO can provide expertise across a broad range of disciplines.
