Storm damaged reservoir refurbished

Refurbishment of storm damaged One Tree Hill Reservoir complete

The 9ML One Tree Hill Reservoir is a key part of the Tamworth’s water supply network.  It supplies water to properties in Hillvue, South Tamworth, Westdale, Kingswood and Calala.  The reservoir’s roof and support structure were damaged beyond repair by a December 2018 storm.

Tamworth Regional Council engaged NSW Public Works to manage a $1 million refurbishment of the reservoir, which commenced in July 2019.  The refurbishment included removal and replacement of the existing roof; support structure; columns; vents; access hatch and internal ladder. A generator was also installed on the site to ensure consistent water supply and pressure to properties reliant on the reservoir for water supply during power outages.

Once works were completed the reservoir was cleaned and tested to ensure integrity before being refilled, ready for use in March 2020.
