About

The Rous Future Water Project 2060 – Integrated Water Conservation Management Strategy identified new water sources and strategies for long-term water supply security. The Strategy included a three-staged approach over the next 40 years, considering groundwater, recycled water and desalination.

NSW Public Works prepared a Planning Pathways Report covering Ballina, Byron, Lismore, and Richmond Valley LGAs. The report assessed environmental values, constraints, hazards and potential statutory requirements.

As part of this assessment, consultation was undertaken with stakeholders for Rous’ consideration in their project planning activities. It also identified key risks to the project approval and potential mitigation measures. This comprehensive assessment will assist Rous County in future project decisions.
