We offer a 35-hour work week and a flexible work environment, with a range of hybrid working arrangements available including working from the office, from home or on a job site. NSW Government also supports employees with ‘flex leave’, so if you are required to work beyond your normal hours you will have the option to access this balance for additional time away from work.

Working as a member of an integrated team in a positive and collaborative team culture environment, our Graduate and Cadet roles are a fantastic opportunity for you to learn and develop your university skills and business knowledge to build an exciting career with NSW Public Works.

You will work with leading project managers and engineers on some of the largest infrastructure, construction and development projects and programs of work in NSW that contribute to regional and rural communities. You will have the opportunity to visit work sites from time to time with the majority of time spent in an office environment or working from home as arranged with your direct manager.

Our extensive service lines also enable lateral career moves and continuous upskilling and learning opportunities throughout your career.

Cadet roles

  • Currently studying a relevant bachelor degree in Building, Construction, Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Structural, Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical).
  • Currently studying in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year bachelor degree;
  • Cadets will work part-time whilst studying part/full-time and working full-time during semester breaks.
  • Location: All of NSW
  • Salary from $66,298 to $72,077 plus super and leave loading (package up to $73,047)
  • Must be a Permanent Resident of Australia.

Graduate roles

  • Completed a relevant bachelor degree in the past 12 months in Building, Construction, Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Structural, Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical).
  • This is a post-degree role and is typically a full time role.
  • Graduates will be expected to provide successful academic results.
  • Location: All of NSW
  • Salary from $74,117 to $81,158 plus super and leave loading (package up to $82,251)
  • Must be a Permanent Resident of Australia.
