About
Albury City proposed 7.2km of roads and footpaths, including roundabouts and bridges, to support the future development of the Thurgoona growth area. The route passed through areas known to contain threatened species and ecological communities. The council referred the project to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) under the EPBC Act. NSW Public Works provided advice, a REF and an EPBC Preliminary Document Report and Submissions Report outlining options to avoid or minimise environmental impact. By working closely with the council, we balanced crucial housing needs with environmental preservation.
