Background

Directly integrated with the under construction Bradfield Metro Station, Central Park will be the main civic space and the primary arrival and welcoming point for visitors to Bradfield City.

Stepping out of the Metro, visitors will arrive straight into Central Park, a green, open civic heart that sets the tone for Australia’s first new city in 100 years, and creates a clear sense of place from the moment of arrival.

Located in the heart of Bradfield City, it will be a place for people to gather, play and relax. It will also provide a stunning backdrop for arts and cultural events.

Our role

Bradfield City’s 2-hectare Central Park is the foundational public space to be built in Australia’s first new city in 100 years. It will be a significant addition to the city's open space network, accounting for approximately 5% of the total of 36 hectares of open space. It will serve as a destination and central hub for all residents, workers, and visitors of Bradfield City. The park will be versatile, providing a space for community gatherings, relaxation, outdoor learning, and education.

The project aims to create a unique and high-quality public open space that is inclusive and accessible to everyone, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

Central Park is designed to seamlessly connect with surrounding streets and integrate into Bradfield City, reinforcing its role as a key civic link within the city. Anchored by the Bradfield Metro Station, the park will serve as a welcoming arrival point, offering visitors an immediate sense of place as they step into Bradfield City.

This state-of-the-art park will showcase innovation, celebrate local Country and create opportunities for connection between the community and visitors from around the world. It will be a place where people from diverse backgrounds come together — to meet, explore, participate and contribute to the vibrant life of the city. A range of play spaces for all ages and public art will be woven throughout the landscape, reflecting Bradfield’s character and ensuring the park is welcoming, accessible and inclusive for all. Its key features include the Sky Ring, Gathering Green with capacity for 5000 people, and woven play space and shelters.

Located in the north‑western part of Bradfield City, Central Park will be framed by major landmarks and infrastructure. A destination food and beverage venue will define its western edge, while the Bradfield Metro Station entrance point forms its southern boundary. The delivery of Bradfield City Central Park is closely linked with the development of the Bradfield Metro Station, with the station box located beneath the park and a 60‑metre‑wide rail protection corridor passing through it.
