NSW Bushfire Clean-up Program

The NSW Government’s bushfire clean-up program is opt in, its primary purpose is to make properties safe and clean up destroyed homes and businesses, so that people can get on with their lives.

NSW Public Works continues program

NSW Public Works has resumed responsibility for delivering the bushfire clean-up program, following the successful clearing of more than 3,600 bushfire damaged properties by managing contractor Laing O’Rourke.

We thank Laing O’Rourke for their work in clearing thousands of destroyed properties, and for the role they have played helping property owners take their first steps towards rebuilding and recovery.

Laing O’Rourke will continue to manage and carry out clean-up of properties inspected or where work has commenced prior to July 27 2020.

We recognise that the 2019/2020 bushfires had a significant impact on the mental health of many and the journey to healing and recovery can take time.

To ensure no one with an impacted property is left behind, the bushfire clean-up program does not currently have a registration end date.

What does this mean for the clean-up of my property?

There will be no impacts for property owners who have registered for clean-up work. As Laing O’Rourke hand over the program of work to NSW Public Works, there will be no changes to agreed scope of works, the timing of works, the speed of completion, or the safety and quality of works carried out.
